Flat and house sharing the new property craze

Flat sharing is back in vogue, according to a national Property Web Portal. Reasons behind the surge in enthusiasm include: the hike in house prices, increased divorce rates, popularity of city crash pads, uncertainty in the jobs market and the emotional benefits of sharing accommodation.

Homeowner's with spare room’s are now taking on lodger's in many area's of the UK to help them pay there mortgages.

This is becoming increasingly popular as property owners are coming under more and more financial pressure from factor including redundancy and reduced income (salary freeze, no overtime), increasing utility bills, relationship breakdown (where the mortgage payment was split previously). The key benefit for the owner's is obviously the extra income that renting a spare room brings, and it is reported that this is reducing the level of re-possessions experienced in the UK.
